Woman’s Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world on 8 March. Originating in the feminist struggles of the early 20th century, this day is intended as a day of mobilisation for gender equality. In the countries of Central Asia, this popular holiday is more a celebration of femininity, with flowers being the custom.

To mark the occasion, the price of bouquets sold in this Dushanbe underground passage has been raised from 30 to 40 somoni.
