In Samarkand, a wall separates the Gur-e-Amir, from the popular district of Iskanderov in which it was located until 2009. This house narrowly escaped demolition. Despite criticism, the Uzbek government continues to remodel tourist sites, as currently in Bukhara or Tashkent.
