A Theatre’s history
- Photo of the day
- 1 minute
The National Drama Theatre in Osh in southern Kyrgyzstan, named after the former head of the Kyrgyz government Sultan Ibraimov since 1997, was convened in 1972. Two years later, the building in which the theatre is still located was completed. However, the city’s theatre history goes much further. A theatre circle was first founded in Osh in 1914, which provided the basis for the founding of the State Academic Uzbek Music and Drama Theatre in 1919. This too exists to this day, as the “Osh State Academic Uzbek Musical-Dramatic Theatre Babur”. Credit: Davide Pilloni
