From the top of her very quiet shopping arcade, this young girl dreamily observes the activity of the Mehrgon market in Dushanbe.

Built in 2014 to replace the ‘obsolete’ street markets, Mehrgon is a sumptuous three-storey shopping complex showcasing products from every region of Tajikistan. The Tajik government sees it as an architectural monument designed to boost national pride. (June 2023).
