What remains and those who remain

Along the A373 motorway connecting Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to Osh (Kyrgyzstan), in the Uzbek province of Namangan, a Lada Jigouli stands still, a reminder of the Soviet era. Despite the January cold, the road is clear, allowing for a peaceful journey to the heights of Kyrgyzstan. As their Tajik neighbours would say: “râh-e sefid” (literally “white road”) to wish them a safe journey !
