The Ustyurt Plateau with its height of 60 to 130 meters stands out strikingly from its surroundings. The plateau extends over the western part of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Here in Uzbekistan the transition to the plateau is not far from the west coast of the Aral Sea.
