A plane appears to be flying over the Hotel Kazakhstan in Almaty. This building, built in 1977 and capable of withstanding an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale, has become a symbol of the city, to the point of appearing for a time on the 5000 Tenge banknote.
