A MIG-23, a Soviet-era fighter plane, stands at the entrance to Tokmok. Well known to tourists for its proximity to the Burana Tower, Tokmok is also a town that stretches along the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. An arms race has been documented in recent years between the various countries of Central Asia, but this does not seem to be affecting the balance of power or the intensity of the conflicts.
