{"id":48269,"date":"2026-01-28T05:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T04:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novastan.org\/en\/?p=48269"},"modified":"2026-01-28T20:39:41","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T19:39:41","slug":"statue-ismoil-somoni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novastan.org\/en\/photo-of-the-day\/statue-ismoil-somoni\/","title":{"rendered":"The statue of Ismail Samani"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The statue of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ismail_Samani\">Ismail Samani<\/a><\/strong>, which stands in Dushti Square (meaning \u201cfriendship\u201d) and is the symbol of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dushanbe\">Dushanbe<\/a><\/strong>, the capital of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tajikistan\">Tajikistan<\/a><\/strong>, was unveiled in 1999 to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the Samanid state. It is part of a memorial complex for national unity and the rebirth of Tajikistan and is a tourist attraction in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Standing 13 meters tall, the statue depicts Ismail Samani (849-907), leader and emir of the Samanid dynasty, considered the founder of the Tajik state and a national hero.
