]]> Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi

The mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, a 12th-century Sufi poet and mystic, is remarkable for several reasons. An important place of pilgrimage, its presence conferred on the city of Turkistan the title of ‘Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World’ in 2021. In 2022, it became the first Kazakh monument to be listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as being the best preserved of all the buildings from the Timurid era.
