The peaceful Panorama district overlooks the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The small dachas overlook the city on one side and the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Ala Too mountain range, which rise to over 4000 metres, on the other.

In all Central Asian markets, such as here at the Osh Bazaar in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, pomegranates are a must-have. The pomegranate tree was one of the first fruit trees to be cultivated, starting in the 3rd millennium BC in Iran, then in Egypt and Greece. With its blood-red colour, the pomegranate symbolises fertility, longevity, prosperity and life.

It is a fruit to be placed on the table so that the year 2026 begins under the sign of vitality.

The Gapar Aitiev Art Museum in Bichkek exhibits art collections (paintings, sculptures) from the former Soviet Union, as well as numerous objects of Kyrgyz decorative art. In 2019, the museum created a controversy with its exhibition “Feminnale”, which led to the resignation of its director.

The Burana Tower, located in the Chüy Valley on the outskirts of Bishkek, is a minaret that forms part of the remains of the city of Balasagun (9th century). It is the setting for a legend reminiscent of Sleeping Beauty: a witch warned a king that his daughter would die when she turned eighteen, so the king built a tall tower to house his daughter. However, on her eighteenth birthday, a spider bit the young girl and she died as predicted. No Prince Charming here ….
